Reflection I hope that this class will impact my teaching strategies. Using the iPad as a tool would be wonderful, however, unless Mr. Jobs, or a huge grant drops off new tablets at Oshkosh North in the near future, I do not see this particular technology being used within my classroom. This class has opened my eyes, however. More than just the iPad can be used in my classroom!
From a personal point of view, the iPad has already made me more mobile with my technology. Just from checking Facebook, to following my fantasy football scores as I sit in my recliner watching the NFL games. Professionally, I plan on discussing the technology options that are out there with my administration and department head, so that I can become better trained in using the ever changing technology within my classroom.
I was very happy to learn more about Wiki-spaces and Animoto in this class. I hope to create a private sight for my future Area Studies of Wisconsin classes, and incorporate Animoto, and possibly Movie-maker as possible vid-cast assignments. I may write for a $1,000 grant from the local Chamber of Commerce and purchase some Flip cameras to do this technology task in small groups.
Finally, the application I selected was the GPSnote app. Unfortunately, the demonstration did not go very well (either due to slow Internet access, or my chubby fingers, or both!). When I sat down and used it myself, I thought that this would be very beneficial to my students in learning the locations of various cities, villages, and towns of Wisconsin; along with getting to know what makes these places unique from one another.
